E. Morgan Heckler Foundation

Education Program

The E. Morgan Heckler Foundation mission is stopping fentanyl poisoning and saving lives through community engagement, education, and empowering individuals to protect themselves and others. By being prepared we can save more lives!

In 2024 there were 54,743 US deaths involving synthetic opioids… principally illegally manufactured fentanyl.

We provide fact-based information about fentanyl poisoning both online and in person so the community can become part of the solution.

Fentanyl poisoning is a weighty subject. We want our audiences to be mature enough for the discussion. We regularly speak to high schools and colleges, and civic organizations, but the conversation is appropriate for any group concerned about their community’s well-being.

EMHF was founded in memory of our son Morgan who died from fentanyl poisoning in August 2022. We hope our education efforts provide people the information and strategies to protect themselves and others.

As a high school sophomore still wrestling with the idea of becoming a nurse, I was quickly growing tired of constant advice. When I sat down for the presentation from the Heckler family in our school’s auditorium, I was instantly sure my path was the right one for me. I listened to Mr. Heckler explain the death of his promising and talented son and teared up. The message truly hit home. It made me realize nursing was a career I wanted to succeed in so that I could help families like the Hecklers not only receive excellent medical care, but also receive closure.
