Why Carry Narcan?

Narcan, the brand name for naloxone, is the proven antidote for opioid overdose. It quickly reverses the effects of opioids such as fentanyl, heroin, oxycodone, morphine, and similar drugs, reviving individuals in life-threatening situations.

Between June 2020 and June 2022, EMS groups in the United States administered nearly 750,000 doses of Narcan. While most were given by medical professionals, over 25,000 doses were administered by everyday people, saving more than 2,500 lives. According to the CDC, naloxone administered in community settings has a survival rate of 93–98%.
